In Progress
This is still at the stage where I am trying to loosely block in and there are a lot of darks and mid tones that will be adjusted once it comes together a bit more.
I try to paint or draw everyday but took rare break today since my oldest son returned to college at Texas Tech this morning. It is always hard for me to see him go and so I spent the day cleaning out entire rooms and outbuildings to burn off the already missing him feeling. However, I am joyful that he is pursuing his dreams at the same time. Being a mother is nothing if not complicated!
Lots of mothering going on in this painting and so it is fitting to be working on it this week.

Primed and Sketched
Primed the canvas and did a rough sketch in pencil. Nothing more fun to paint than sweet children and brand new calves.

Bird Head
While on my morning walk I saw this calf peacefully enjoying the sunshine with a bird on her head. This sweet girl was a gift to my son from my favorite rancher, Macaela.
